Glass Cricket

              2021

Here's to vaccinations for everyone and crafts shows coming back!

So what is Glass Cricket?  It is a distraction I created when I realized my mom job duties were about to change. With two sons in high school keeping me busy with roller hockey, building and racing drones, and photography, I knew my motivation to get out of bed each morning was going to come to a screeching halt after they moved on to college. I have struggled with depression most of my life and I decided I needed something to motivate me and to fill my day-to-day life.

In July of 2015 I took a fused glass class with a friend and fell in love with the clean, colorful glass and all the things I could do with it. I bought a kiln and in January of 2016, I started Glass Cricket.

Why a Cricket?

Fusing glass requires a kiln. A kiln is an oven that heats and melts the glass pieces together.  It requires specialized heating and cooling rates to produce finished pieces that will be strong.  As the kiln turns on and off to slowly raise the heat, it makes "clicking" sounds like a cricket looking for love. (Maybe it will attract another kiln to my house!)
